As I may have mentioned to just about everyone who will listen, my film was selected for BBC 3 Fresh. Fresh is an online platform for new and upcoming filmmakers to showcase their work online. This was such a success, that they decided to create one hour documentary about it, named 'Life Through Your Lens'. Better still, my film was one of the few films that made the cut! Naturally, my flabber had never been so gasted. (See: Flabbergasted)
The Fresh team invited me, and every talented filmmaker that contributed, to a premiere screening of the finished programme. So on the 15th of January, I ventured down to sunny (busy) London to watch it. I invited my friend Neil along for emotional ballast, and we arrived at the BBC Production House in certain awe of the building. It was very pretty. Once in, it was a little astonishing realising where we were. We were actually inside of the BBC building (By invite, no less!) to watch a programme that I helped to contribute to! We take the extra awesome lift to the viewing area. Wine is served. People mingle. Then after some speeches from some of the important faces of Fresh, we watch the programme. The programme itself was excellent. Well structured, sensitive to the issues discussed by each filmmaker and mostly importantly, entertaining. Seeing the quality of work that others had created was inspiring, some levels I can only aspire to at this point! Afterwards, we all chatted and made each others acquaintance, and it was good! I hope that this little folly into the world of the BBC isn't my last, but even so, it was a great evening and I met some excellent people. As soon I know when the programme is being broadcast (and I'm allowed to tell), you'll all know. Watch this space! |
