So, I went back to visit Samantha this Easter. We went to go and visit the beautiful City of Edinburgh! Having never been there before, it was an amazing experience: despite the fact that my phone ran out of data, which I was much less impressed by! Still though, we got to see some amazing things whilst we were there, such as the Royal Mile, St Giles Cathedral and the outside of Edinburgh Castle.
We had a lovely lunch a great little place called 'Wings', that as you may have guessed sell just chicken wings. With over 50 flavours however, we were not put off by the single offering! http://wingsedinburgh.com/. Afterwards, we ventured to Edinburgh's main attraction, named CameraObscura. The aforementioned camera was situated at the top of the 6 storey building, and provided a live birdseye view over the whole of Edinburgh, by using a mirror and a dark shaft! The rest of the building housed a museum to all things camera trickery, including the ability to swap heads! Sam and I were a little freaked out by that one, but loved the whole experience. http://www.camera-obscura.co.uk/ We also found an incredible place named Panda & Sons, that masquerades as a Speakeasy disguised as an American barbershop. My cocktail came in a tea cup. Impressed. Entering a bar through a bookcase will NEVER get old for me, especially when the cocktails were that good!http://pandaandsons.com On the way back, we stopped off to photograph the magnificent Kelpies! They were bloody impressive, especially at night with all of their fancy effects lighting. Definitely proud of all of the photos I got from that excursion! The next day, We made a special trip to Doune Castle, where most of the castle scenes from Monty Python and the Holy Grail were shot! They gave me some coconut shells, so I could 'ride' into the courtyard, and we had a wonderful audio tour, narrated by the Python Terry Jones. Afterwards, we had some lunch and had a walk down into the grounds, where we met two lovely dogs named Harry and Bonnie, and relaxed near a lovely stream. Better still, I got to meet up with Michael Rea, for a little chat about camera work and such, which was great! The coffee shop was lovely too.
