Ah yes, that magical time of year where the singles feel more singular, and the partnered are pressured. It's truly magical. This being said, I was very excited when I stepped onto the train at Manchester Piccadilly! After 2 weeks, I'll get to see my beloved Samantha. She's just moved to Scotland and started a full time job, so our time has been scarce. On the train I get talking to a lovely bloke, who gave me cookies and talked to me about his life. We swapped numbers. |
Now, most couples may go for a meal at a fancy restaurant for Valentines Day. Some may even get a couples massage, go to the cinema, or just spoon on the sofa all day. Some couples. Sam decided 'We should climb a mountain'. Now, at first, I wasn't to intimidated. This was mostly due to the fact that, to my mind, this walk would be mostly horizontal, and the word 'Mountain' wasn't uttered by a single soul present. However, after about 200m of uphill walking later, it occurred to me that the walk was going to be much more irksome than first deduced. This isn't to say that I didn't enjoy it however; it was amazing fun! I picked up a stick to aid my struggle up the hills (which I named Charlie, for reasons lost). Plus, I got the chance to photograph the amazing Scottish landscape from the top with my love. It was a great day. Before we went out, I put a big old piece of pork in the slow cooker. That night we had awesome slow-cooked pulled pork, even if I do say so myself.
After so much needed rest, we got up and picked up Sams new bike. It's blue. I got the first ride on it. Sam wasn't pleased. It's blue. Then, we drove off to Whitelee Wind Farm. Truth be told, I was not sure what to expect from this place. Sam had kept it a secret from me, and I wasn't sure why at first. We got there and embarked on what turned into a 3 hour walk around the wind farms nearest section. Son, those mills are BIG. Plus, the sky that day was intense. Sam was right, once again: this was an awesome place. Sadly, as with most things in life, our time had to come to an end. Sam flicked on Hestons Feasts on 4OD (That guy can COOK. I mean, holy s**t), cuddled up in bed, then went to sleep, after pulled pork nachos. The next morning, we said our goodbyes, I got my train and 5 hours later, I'm home. I really miss her to be honest, very much wish we still lived together. Scotland was a beautiful place to re-visit however, so I'm glad she does live there. Gives me a reason to experience it all over again. |
